Meet Jonathan O’Malley, DC
Discovering the Life-Changing Effects of Chiropractic
“I became a chiropractor at 11 years old! So to speak…” Before his seventh ear surgery—at the age of 11—to insert more grommets and t-tubes to reduce his chronic ear infections, Jonathan’s mother decided to look for a non-surgical option for her son. He was sick of being sick. Sick of operations, sick of antibiotics that permanently marked his teeth, and sick of never being able to play in the water with his friends.
As his mother began her search for a more holistic approach, she mentioned this to her chiropractor. Both of Jonathan’s parents regularly saw their chiropractor for maintenance care on their low back pain, which he had stabilised. The chiropractor told them to bring their son in so he could check his cervical spine (neck) to look for any spinal misalignments.
Upon examining Jonathan’s neck, the chiropractor found severe upper cervical spine misalignments, which may have been affecting nerves going to his inner ears.
After six or so visits, no more infections, no more surgeries, and no more missing out on the swimming baths with friends. At that young age, Jonathan became fascinated by how a man without needles, pills or the dreaded operating table could change his life using only his hands. From that point on, Jonathan knew he would be a chiropractor.
The Best of Chiropractic Education
Jonathan and his brother James both attended the “Fountain Head of Chiropractic,” Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, USA. This is where chiropractic was founded, and is the world’s first and oldest chiropractic university. Both brothers were fortunate enough to receive a rugby scholarship to attend the university, as they were playing for the Newcastle Falcons at the time.
Jonathan received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2007 and has been providing customised care to patients since then. He opened our Newcastle upon Tyne clinic to provide a natural healthcare option to people in a community that was underserved in terms of chiropractic care.
