Hi, I'm Orlaith

I'm a physiotherapist and sports massage therapist, seeing patients on weekday evenings at our Heaton clinic.

My approach

I start by finding out what's going on and what you want to get back to, whether that's a match, a run or just getting through the working day without pain. Then I treat it hands-on and give you exercises that make sense, so you know why you're doing them. I bring together what I've learned in the NHS and as an athlete, so your plan fits you rather than a textbook.

Journey so far

I qualified from Northumbria University with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy, and work full time in the NHS as a Band 5 musculoskeletal physiotherapist. I assess and treat a wide range of muscle and joint problems, helping people manage injuries, move better and get back to the things they love.

Along the way I've also worked in older people's care, paediatrics and stroke rehabilitation, among other areas. I'm qualified in Level 4 sports massage and sports taping too, so I can take a well-rounded approach to treatment and recovery.

My goal

Whether you're recovering from an injury, living with pain that won't settle or trying to get back to your sport, I want to help you get back to doing what you love, and know how to keep it that way.

Outside of work

Netball. I play for Northern Ireland, including at the Commonwealth Games, and for Leeds Rhinos Netball, and I'm training for the 2027 Netball World Cup in Sydney. Playing at that level has taught me a lot about what sport asks of your body, and what it takes to come back from injury.
